AUBURN (AP) — A suspect in the slaying of a Lewiston man whose body was dumped in a stream in Monmouth last year is expected to ask a judge to let him out on bail this week.
The Sun Journal reports that William True has a bail hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
The 21-year-old True has pleaded not guilty to charges including murder in connection with the April 2013 beating and strangulation death of Romeo Parent. Prosecutors say Parent was killed in Greene and his body dumped in a Monmouth stream.
True’s lawyer has called the evidence against his client “tenuous.”
Another man has already been convicted of killing Parent.
Authorities have said that the suspects wanted Parent dead because he had told police about True’s involvement in a burglary.
