Elite fly fisherman and photographer Tim Shaw will be at Sebago Trout Unlimited’s chapter meeting to present his striking slides and expert commentary on the amazing diversity of fly fishing opportunities that Maine waters offer. Wednesday Walkers, 10 a.m. in Boothbay

Join the Wednesday Walkers as they explore the Ovens Mouth West Preserve, a Boothbay Region Land Trust preserve. The hike is moderately difficult and about 3 miles in length. Meet at the Ovens Mouth trail head on Dover Cross Road. To learn more, call 633-4818.

Gray Ghosts Fly Tying, Nov. 11 in Yarmouth

Join the Gray Ghost Fly Tyers and learn from experts how to tie two flies essential for any fly box: Gary LaFontaine’s Marabou Worm and Cal Bird’s Nest. The fly-tying group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from November to March in the First Parish Congregational Church, located on Main Street in Yarmouth. The class runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A $5 donation is requested. Tyers should bring the tools and equipment to use in fly tying. The instructors will provide the hooks and materials for the flies. Creepy Flashlight Tour, 6 to 8 p.m., Oct. 25, Hinckley

Join the L.C. Bates Museum for a creepy tour by flashlight to discover owls and critters associated with Halloween and nighttime. Look through an owl pellet, try out the scavenger hunt, or create a bat flip book to bring home. Costumes encouraged. Participants should dress warm and bring a flashlight. Museum admission is $3 for adults and $1 for youth under 18. The L.C Bates Museum is dedicated to inspiring wonder and discovery of the natural world.
