IT WAS A BUSY NIGHT at the Woolwich Fire Department fire prevention and public safety night on Oct. 15, according to the department’s Safety Officer Jason Simpson. “In two hours we had over 400 people come to take in 15 different agencies,” that had set up displays and activities for the fire department’s open house, said Simpson, including Midcoast Hospital, Sagadahoc EMA and the Maine Forest Service. “There was Smokey the Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog,” said Simpson, “and a smokehouse to teach fire safety. The night ended with a raffle of two bike and five bike helmets, he said, donated by Woolwich Dairy Queen, Wiscasset Ames True Value Hardware and Walmart in Brunswick.
