On Nov. 4, I urge all voters in House District 49 to re-elect Democratic state Rep. Mattie Daughtry and send her back to Augusta to continue her successful work representing Brunswick. Mattie made the decision after college to return to her home town and pursue a career in the arts. She has developed a photography business and found the time to enter into politics in Augusta, being elected in 2012 to the Maine House. She is sensitive to the impact of college costs on Maine’s youth and the need to provide jobs so that they remain in our state. She is chairwoman of the College Affordability Commission and is a member of the Legislature’s Education Committee. She is also co-chairwoman of the Youth Caucus, a bipartisan group working to ensure that young Mainers have an economic future in Maine. Let’s keep Mattie working for Maine’s youth and all of us.
