PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The Portland Pirates (1-3) had their third loss of the weekend by a tally of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon against the Providence Bruins at the Dunkin Donuts Center.

The Bruins put up two goals in the first frame of action and the Pirates spent the rest of the game unsuccessfully attempting to even the score.

The first Providence goal came at 6:51 when Tyler Randall, assisted by Anthony Camara, put one past Portland goalie Louis Domingue (0-1-0). The Bruins notched another goal, their first power play goal of the season, at 18:32 scored by Alexander Khokhlachev and assisted by Craig Cunningham and Zach Trotman.

The Pirates’ rally attempt started at 6:52 in the second period with a goal from the captain Alex Bolduc. Jordan Martinook and Henrik Samuelsson were both credited with assists. The Pirates continued to pressure the Bruins throughout the frame, leading the Bruins in shots on goal by a tally of 12- 10 in the second.

The Pirates return to action on Friday at Manchester. They return home on Saturday against the Syracuse Crunch at the Cross Insurance Arena.
