SACO — Thornton Academy got goals from six different players ”“ including four seniors on senior night ”“ as the Trojans finished off the regular season with a 9-0 victory over Massabesic in an SMAA boys soccer game at Hill Stadium on Tuesday.

The scoring began with a pair of goals by Simon Trcka ”“ with both assisted by senior Tyler Lebel. Trcka returned the favor on the third Thornton (8-3-3) goal, as he fed Lebel.

Seniors Charlie Goodrum and Aaron Goren added goals later in the first half.

Senior Liam Eisenhaur scored two goals in the second half, as well as goals by Keegan Fowler and Goren.

Senior goalie made two saves in net for Thornton. Justin Crowley stopped nine shots for Massabesic (0-14).

The Trojans, who earned the No. 5 seed in the Western Class A playoffs, will host No. 12 Bonny Eagle in a preliminary round game on Friday.

DEERING 4, SANFORD 0

SANFORD — Deering received four goals from four different players in a 4-0 victory over host Sanford in an SMAA boys soccer game at Cobb Stadium on Tuesday.

Ahmad Adnan, Hany Ramadan, Stephan Ochan and Jonathan Bojambi all scored for the Rams (12-1-1).

Marcus Gould made 10 saves in goal for Sanford (2-12).

THORNTON 3, MASSABESIC 0

WATERBORO — Thornton Academy jumped ahead early before rain washed away most of the second half of a 3-0 win over host Massabesic in an SMAA girls soccer game on Tuesday.

Haley DaGraca scored 1:49 into the game on a breakaway, then Katherine Gillespie scored just over a minute later on a pass from Tori Daigle.

Daigle scored less than 15 minutes in on a pass from DaGraca to round out the scoring for the Trojans (12-2).

Alyssa Wardwell made 14 saves in goal for the Mustangs (4-9-1).

The game was called due to heavy rain with 28 minutes remaining in the second half.
