WILTON (AP) — A Maine firefighter is facing an arson charge for allegedly setting a small blaze at an outdoor music theater in the village of East Dixfield.
An investigator with the state Fire Marshal’s office says Jason Baldwin set a fire at the Countryfolk Music Theatre on U.S. Route 2 on Oct. 15 and then helped extinguish it with only minor damage.
Sgt. Joel Davis says he thinks the 28-year-old Baldwin set the fire to bring attention to himself.
Davis says Baldwin apparently broke into the small cabin and started the fire using combustible materials such as paper in a hallway.
Wilton’s fire chief says Baldwin has been with the department since May and will likely be dismissed.
