BRUNSWICK — Multitalented author, academic and innovator Susan Conley will be appearing at 7 p. m. tonight at Curtis Memorial Library.
Sponsored by Curtis Friends, Susan’s work has appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times, The Paris Review, The Harvard Review, Ploughshares and various other prestigious publications. She is also the recipient of the Maine Literary Award for Memoir for her memoir “ The Foremost Good Fortune.” Susan is currently on the faculty of USM’s Stonecoast MFA Program and has received fellowships from the Breadloaf Writers Conference, the MacDowell Colony and the Massachusetts Art Council.
One of the most interesting of Susan’s accomplishments is her co-founding of The Telling Room. Guided by the belief that stories can change lives and that children are natural born storytellers, The Telling Room is a non-profit creative writing lab based in Portland, Maine. Since its inception it has served thousands of Maine’s children in an environment that encourages creativity and confidence that all of us have something unique to share with others.
Susan’s appearance is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
