KENNEBUNK — Carroll Everett Matthews, 94, of Kennebunk, passed away at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Oct. 23, 2014.

Carroll was born a son of the late Gertrude Matthews Card on July 18, 1920.

Carroll served in the Army during World War II and was a 60-year member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

He worked as a contract mail carrier for 23 years until he retired.

In addition to his mother, Carroll was preceded in death by: his wife of 54 years, Lillian Thyng Matthews; two daughters, Joan Matthews and Phyllis Roberts; one great-granddaughter; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother; and

four sisters.

Carroll is survived by: two daughters, Patricia Grass and her husband David and Sally Love and her husband Melvin; one son-in-law, Barry Roberts and his wife Elaine; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond Card and Kenneth Card; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 at Odd Fellows Hall, 31 Main St., Kennebunk, ME 04043. Arrangements by Coastal Cremation Services, 471 Deering Ave., Portland, ME 04103.
