Meetings

The Durham Board of Selectmen is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Nov. 4 and Tuesday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m., at the Town Office.

CEO hours

Absentee ballots available

Absentee voting ends Thursday, Oct. 30. To request an absentee ballot come in or call town office at 353-2561, ext. 11. Voters that want a ballot must request their own ballot.

Polls are open on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at Durham Community School, 654 Hallowell Road. Voters are asked to park in the upper parking lot closest to town office and enter side door. Parking for the handicapped is directly in front of school and they can enter through main lobby.

Giving Tree applications available

Giving Tree applications can obtained from Durham Town Office or the Lisbon Town Office. Deadline for applications is Nov. 10 so that tags can be ready the Monday after Thanksgiving. Applications are welcome after Nov. 10 with stipulations. Those applying on or after Nov. 21 should call 353-3000, ext. 124, with the application information. The very last day to apply is Dec. 1. Giving Tree bottle drive benefit set

Durham Boy Scout Troop 145 and Cub Scout Pack 145 will be holding a bottle drive on Saturday, Nov. 1. All proceeds will be used to support the Durham Giving Tree. Scouts will be going around for collections or bottles can be dropped off at the AMVETS that morning from 9 to noon. For large quantities or to make arrangements for pick up, call Joe Howe at 353-9110.

Boy Scouts hosting dinner for vets

Boy Scout Troop 145 of Durham is hosting a spaghetti supper on Monday, Nov. 10, from 5-6:30 p.m., at the Durham Congregational Church, for all veterans and active-duty personnel and a guest, to thank them for all they do for our county. For more information, call Larry, 837-3735.

Chicken barbecue, Nov. 1

The First Congregational Church of Durham will host a chicken barbecue on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 4:30-6 p.m. On the menu are barbecue chicken, salads, rolls, pies and beverage. The cost is $9 for those 13 and older, $3 for kids 6-12 and free for kids under 5.

Eureka Center seeks floor bids

Snowmobile club meets monthly

The Tri-Town Penguins Snowmobile Club meets on the last Tuesday of each month from September to April. Meetings are held at the Durham Fire Station, 615 Hallowell Road, Durham, beginning at 7 p.m. The next meeting is Nov. 25. New members are always welcome. Griefshare Tuesdays

Griefshare, a 13-week support group for those who have lost a loved one, facilitated by Pastor Ron Parker, now meets on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., through Dec. 29, at the Shiloh Chapel Fellowship Hall main church building. Gun raffle tickets now on sale

Tickets are now available for the Durham Fire & Rescue’s eighth annual gun raffle, “30 Days-30 Guns in November.” The prizes are guns donated by Johnson’s Sporting Goods, 206 Bath Road, Brunswick.

Tickets are $20, and will be limited to 3,000 tickets. Odds of winning are 1 in 100.

Tickets can be purchased from any member of the Durham Fire & Rescue Department. They can also be obtained by calling 353-2473 or stopping by the station at 615 Hallowell Road. Tickets also can be purchased at the Durham Get & Go at 697 Royalsborough Road.
