WELLS — Fans of Wells rap artist Spose have raised $18,000 to help the musician, who was allegedly burglarized while on tour in St. Louis, Missouri, last week.

Spose, whose legal name is Ryan Peters, posted on Facebook on Oct. 20 that his tour van was robbed at 12:30 p.m. that day outside a restaurant called Pappy’s Smokehouse and almost $30,000 worth of equipment was stolen.

Spose wrote that he filed a police report. St. Louis police could not be contacted by press time.

“We lost everything,” wrote Spose. He said he and his tour mates lost laptops, musical equipment, a camera, recording equipment, an iPad and phones. He said he also lost hard drives containing the music he had made for upcoming albums.

“We were in the restaurant for 30 minutes,” said Spose. “And they essentially took my job, all the work I had done for the past two years building up to 2015. Gone.”

Spose wrote that he would perform at his scheduled show that night, though a bit late, and his next few performances would be with limited resources.

An online fundraising site, www.gofundme.com/SposeArmyStrong, was set up later that day by Adam Fishman, a high school senior from Northampton, Massachusetts, who administers Spose’s Facebook and Twitter fan sites, according to information from the funding site. The fundraiser will end at the close of Nov. 1. As of this morning, $18,000 had been raised.

Spose has written multiple posts to thank his fans for their support.

“You guys are legitimately saving my career,” he wrote in one post.
