PROVIDENCE, R.I. — The University of Maine Huskies women’s soccer team hit the road for Little East Conference play against Rhode Island College and came out with a 2-2 draw after two overtimes.
With the Huskies trailing 2-1 late in the game, CC Pelletier scored her third goal of the season in the 73rd minute.
Shortly after, former Mt. Ararat standout Mariah Cropley nearly had the game-winning goal, but Anchormen’s goalie Justina Thoma turned her shot away keep the game at a tie.
The Huskies had two shots on goal in the second overtime, but Thoma made both saves to keep the draw alive. Thoma made 10 saves for RIC, while USM’s goalie Marissa Temple turned back 10 shots.
Southern Maine faced Saint Joseph’s (Maine) at home on Monday in a non-conference game.
