HAMPDEN — Erin Tome and Libby Ouellette scored in the second half as the Mt. Ararat High School girls soccer team downed fourthseeded Hampden Academy, 2-1 in an Eastern Maine Class A quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Tome and Ouellette staked the fifth-seeded Eagles to a 2- 0 lead, and Mt. Ararat (9-4-2) was able to hang on.
Mt. Ararat is slated to visit top-seeded Bangor (13-0- 2) on Saturday.

On Tuesday, Richmond received a goal each from Logan Anair, Cody Tribbet and Nate Vintinner in a 3-1 Western Maine Class D quarterfinal win over eighth-seeded Greenville.
The Bobcats, the No. 1 seed, will host Greater Portland Christian (12-2-1 after a quarterfinal win over Chop Point) on Friday in a Western D semifinal at 3 p.m.
Vintinner opened the scoring with 24:07 remaining in the first half, and Tribbet doubled the lead seven minutes into the second frame off a pass from Brendan Emmons. Anair’s unassisted goal with 20:21 remaining made for a 3-0 game.
