In a race that was nearly tied, Republican Karen Vachon, 55, a health insurance agent from Scarborough, won the Maine House of Representatives seat representing District 29.
Vachon won 50.9 percent of the vote, edging out Paul Aronson, 63, of Scarborough, who ran as a Democrat. He is an attorney and was the Cumberland County District Attorney from 1982 to 1990.
The district includes part of Scarborough.
