The Kennebunk Free Library is hosting “Literary Feast: The Brunch Edition” at the library, located at 112 Main St., Kennebunk on Sunday, Nov. 9. Doors open at 11 a.m.; brunch is served at 11:30 a.m. in the Library’s Reading and Reference rooms. The menu is based on the book, “School of Essential Ingredients” by Erica Bauermeister.
Eight students have enrolled in the school of essential ingredients to learn how to cook, but each hungers for something more. Chef Lillian guides them as they discover that cooking and eating evoke thoughts, feelings, desires, and memories that transform them going far beyond the kitchen. The library hopes its brunch menu ”“ including smoked ham and salmon, marinated vegetables, quiche, fresh fruit, assorted breads, bloody mary bar, mimosas and non-alcoholic drinks ”“ will allow guests to savor a range of aromas, tastes, and textures and to experience some of the love and magic of food.
Those with favorite foods, recipes, original concotions or old family recipes may bring a copy along to the literary feast.
This event is for adults over 21. Tickets for this gourmet, multi-course meal are now on sale at the library for $50 per person. For more information, call the library at 985-2173, or email them at [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
