BATH — Every year members of the Bath Lodge of Elks, along with friends and local businesses, partner to raise money to provide a holiday dinner to shut-ins, needy families and folks who may not otherwise be able to put on a traditional holiday meal. The Annual Turkey Shoot is one way they raise funds to put together the dinner baskets.

This year’s event is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. “Married with Chitlins” will be providing musical entertainment for the evening. A varied array of merchandise and gift certificates will be auctioned off, with more donations coming in as the event draws closer.

It will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a preview of the items, the auction beginning at 6 p.m. Four tables, 36 numbers and a spinning wheel numbered to 36; one item per table with a wide range in value of merchandise, the crowd is invited to come up and purchase chances to win each of the items. Chances generally range between $0.50-$2. After all 36 chances are purchased, the auctioneer spins the wheel and the number the wheel stops at declares the winner of that item.

The Bath Elks Veteran’s Committee will be serving burgers, hot dogs and fries for donations to support their work, and beverages will also be available.

Everyone is welcome to attend, have a lot of fun, and assist the Elks in raising money to fund their annual Christmas Dinner Basket Charity. The request for baskets grows each year, and we anticipate that over 90 baskets will be distributed this year.

If you know of a family that is in need, please have them contact the Bath Lodge of Elks at 443-9852, between 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.
