BIDDEFORD — Richard Gerald Gadbois, 69, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014 at the Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

He was born Jan. 3, 1945 in Biddeford, the son of Aldeus and Cecile Ouellette Gadbois.

He attended Biddeford schools and graduated from Biddeford High School in 1964. He attended the University of Maine in Portland.

Richard served for two years in the Army in Germany during the Vietnam War.

Richard worked as a machinist at Saco Defense for 37 years.

He was a member of the Machinists Union and the American Legion Post No. 137.

Richard was a sports enthusiast; he loved watching football, basketball and baseball games. He also enjoyed the tranquility of the beach with his family.

Survivors, all of Biddeford, include: his wife of 46 years, Marsha Winslow Gadbois; a daughter, Julie Lynn Gadbois; a son, Jason Ryan Gadbois; five brothers, Jean Paul, Robert, Roger, Norman and Michael Gadbois; three sisters, Theresa Bourque, Lorraine Gadbois and Denise Guay; and a grandson, Jared Jacobs. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at the Southern Maine Veteran’s Cemetery in Springvale on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at 1 p.m. Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco, is in charge of the arrangements.
