ALFRED — Edgar Andrew “Andy” Garland went into the arms of his Lord and Savior at 5 a.m. on Nov. 10, 2014 in Vermont.
Andy was born on May 8, 1938 in Shapleigh, the youngest child of Orren E. Garland and Blanche Smith Garland.
Andy was a member of the former North Alfred Baptist Church, where he became a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He drove the church bus and picked up many neighborhood children to take them to Sunday school.
He was preceded in death by: two daughters, Mary Rachel and Susan Garland; brother, Orren Garland Jr.; and sister, Pauline Hardy.
He is survived by: his daughter, Beth Kennett and her sons Tom and David Kennett of Rochester, Vermont; grandson, Andrew Tuttle of Ocala, Florida; seven great-grandchildren; his former wife, Mary Garland of Alfred; several nieces and nephews in Maine, and his nephew, Richard Hardy of Lajolla, California.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to Transport For Christ International, www.transportforchrist.org.
