A house at 5 Green St., was saved late this morning by firefighters called to fire that started on a stove.
Reported at about 10:45 a.m., firefighters from Topsham and Brunswick responded. Topsham had an engine that was just leaving Brunswick after providing station coverage as Brunswick Fire Department was fighting a fire and smoke conditions at the Cook’s Corner Mall.

A catering company works out of the house and an upstairs apartment is rented. The fire was contained to the corner of the kitchen space the catering company operates out of.
The caterer, her children and a dog were in the house when the fire was reported and all got out OK.
With two trucks on scene within minutes of the tone, it was a quick knock down, Emmons said, and “nobody got hurt.”
111 Maine Wedding & Event Catering lists 5 Green St. as its address on its website. According to the town’s online assessing data, the home is owned by Ian Talmage and Jennifer Banis and was built in the late 1800s.
