PORTLAND — Billy Schildroth, 37, of Old Orchard Beach, was sentenced Tuesday to nine years in prison and three years of supervised release for robbing a Rite Aid in February.
Schildroth pleaded guilty to pharmacy robbery on Aug. 1, according to a prepared statement from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
According to court records and evidence introduced at the plea hearing, Kyle Desmarais drove Schildroth to the Rite Aid pharmacy on Saco Avenue in Old Orchard Beach on Feb. 13, so Schildroth could rob the pharmacy. Schildroth left with Oxycontin and Suboxone after putting his hand inside his coat and telling the pharmacist that he had “a gun and five bullets,” and not to alert anyone or he would shoot the pharmacist in the face, according to the statement.
In rendering the sentence, Judge Nancy Torresen noted the danger Schildroth’s actions posed to both the pharmacist and the community and Schildroth’s criminal history that included a residential burglary and two drug trafficking convictions, according to the statement.
On Oct. 8, Desmarais was sentenced to 2 1/2 years for aiding and abetting pharmacy robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Old Orchard Beach Police Department.
