SANFORD — L. Lillian (Bachand) Arsenault, 83, of Sanford, died Nov. 19, 2014, with loved ones by her side.

Lil, as she was affectionately known, was born in Massa-chusetts on Dec. 19, 1930.

She and her family moved to Springvale, where she attended local schools.

She married Harvey Arsenault in 1952 and stayed home raising their four children before going to work as a cook at St. Thomas School.

Lil was very involved with the St. Ignatius Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic minister, directed wedding rehearsals and taught CCD for many years.

As a loving and doting wife, mother and grandmother, Lil adored spending time with her family. She was always up for company and talking over coffee ”“ no matter who you were or what time of day. Her home was always open, and she welcomed everyone in, saying, “Pull up a chair!”

Some of Lil’s happiest times were spent at Wells Beach. She also enjoyed going out for ice cream, playing cards and cooking ”“ particularly Thanksgiving dinner ”“ with her granddaughter, Megan.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Harvey; and daughter, Elaine.

Surviving are: her sons, James, Richard and Michael; sister-in-law, Elsie; five grandchildren, Megan, Kristen, Kendra, Julio and Harry; and many others who loved her dearly.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29 at St. Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to York County Food Rescue, P.O. Box 863, Sanford, ME 04073.
