SACO — Educators and potential educators can choose from a variety of teacher preparation programs and courses offered at University College at Saco for the spring 2015 semester, which begins in January.

Courses are taught by University of Maine System instructors at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Most of the courses are delivered online. Students without high-speed Internet access may participate in the courses at University College’s computer lab. Staff at the center offer support to all students who are new to online learning.

Programs range from an undergraduate certificate in special education from the University of Maine at Fort Kent to a Master of Science in Adult and Higher Education from the University of Southern Maine. Students who wish to earn teacher certification can enroll in elementary, secondary and special education program pathways.

“Each semester we offer a greater number and variety of education courses online and at our center,” said Erica Watson, director of University College at Saco. “We are excited to offer courses and programs in our community that will allow people with busy schedules to become certified as Maine teachers.”

Registration for the spring 2015 term has begun. Potential students are encouraged to schedule an advising session at the center to discuss degree selection, credit transfer, financial aid and more.
