SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police in Springfield are investigating after three members of a family were struck by a car.
Authorities said a 7-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition, while the girl’s mother and 8-year-old sister were in serious but stable condition.
The family was crossing the street when they were struck just before 5:30 p.m. Monday on State Street.
The woman who was driving the car stopped after the crash. Sgt. John Delaney said the driver has been charged with operating under the influence.
A portion of the roadway was closed for more than five hours after the incident.
