SACO — The Saco Pathfinders is hosting an open house on Dec. 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 42 Heath Road in Saco.

Members don’t have to own snow snowmobiles. Some are members because they use some of the more than 30 miles of groomed and maintained trails in and around Saco and Scarborough for hiking, biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing.

As a member of the club, you become part owner. You have access to the club house and large parking lot where the trail system begins. From the club house, you can take off in several different directions and spend the day on trails that are expansive and safe.

For the snowmobile members, you can get to groomed trails in Scarborough, Gorham, Biddeford, Lyman, and Buxton with connections to the ITS trail system in Waterboro leading to thousands of miles of trails throughout the northeast. Back at the club house, you can come in for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate at your leisure. Family Club Memberships are $25 a year. For $35 you get a Family Club Membership and become a member of the Maine Snowmobile Association, which includes a $3500 AD&D insurance benefit (free for you and $2 each for family members). As an MSA member, you’ll also receive six issues of the Maine Snowmobiler newspaper, which keeps you informed on snowmobiling issues locally and throughout the state. For $40, you can sign up as a Business Member, which includes all of the above, plus a business listing in the Maine Snowmobiler newspaper for the season.

Those who can’t make it to the open house are welcome to come to a club meeting on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 7 p.m., to meet our members and get a quick tour of our facility. You can also check out the group on Facebook or go to www.sacopathfinders.org for more information.
