DETROIT — Chrysler Group, as a corporate name, is now history. The company announced Tuesday that its name has been changed from Chrysler Group to FCA US LLC – a move that likely won’t be noticed by the average consumer but will mean more to employees and enthusiasts.

The company said the name change “does not affect the company’s headquarters location in Auburn Hills, Mich., its holdings, management team, board or brands.”

That means the history and heritage of the company will live on through the Chrysler brand, the Chrysler Foundation and the Walter P. Chrysler Museum.

The change also bolsters the company’s ongoing integration into its global parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V.,  which officially adopted its new name in October.

“It’s all part of the changes underway since our parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles came into being in October,” Ed Garsten, the company’s head of digital media said in a blog posted Tuesday. “When you think about it, when someone changes their name from Smith to Jones for personal or professional reasons, they’re still the same person.”
