TOPSHAM — Carleton T. Pellerin, 81, of Jeanne Drive, died Dec. 12 at Mid Coast Hospital, in Brunswick.

He was born in Biddeford on Nov. 17, 1933, the son of Carleton T. Pellerin Sr. and Florence Seavey Pellerin. He attended Saco schools, graduated from Thornton Academy and then moved to Connecticut, where he was employed at Wallingford Steel Mill.

Later, he returned to Maine and attended vocational school, before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force and serving in Korea. He then joined AT&T and was employed in various locations throughout Maine, retiring after 41 years in 1997.

Pellerin married Carmella M. Levesque in New Brunswick, Canada, on April 23, 1957.

Always involved in his community, he was one of the three founding members of American Legion Post No. 202, in Topsham. He also helped establish the Topsham youth soccer program and Brunswick Area Youth Hockey. He coached the hockey teams for 30 years, and was a former assistant hockey coach at Mt. Ararat High School.

Pellerin was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, of All Saints Parish.

He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Jackson.

He is survived by his wife, of Topsham; a daughter, Diane Fitzmaurice, and husband, Michael, of Topsham; two sons, John Pellerin and wife, Tara, of Boxford, Massachusetts, and James Pellerin, of Bradenton, Florida; seven grandchildren, Brian Fitzmaurice, of Freeport, Kelly Theberge and husband, Alex, of Brunswick, Brooks, Connor, Ashleen and Brina Pellerin, all of Boxford, and Justin Pellerin Pelkey.

Visitation was held Wednesday at Brackett Funeral Home, in Brunswick. A funeral Mass was scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, at St. John the Baptist Church, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery in the spring.
