BRUNSWICK — Taran Payne hit the game-winning shot with 10 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the Brunswick High School boys basketball team to a comefrom behind 53-52 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win on Thursday over Oxford Hills.
The Dragons ended a three-game slide and improved to 2-3, while the Vikings had their threegame winning streak stopped in falling to 3-2. Brunswick hosts Bangor on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Brunswick led 16-15 after a quarter, but Oxford Hills tied the game at 29 at the half and claimed a 45-39 edge after three quarters. The Dragons outscored the Vikings 10-4 in the fourth to force overtime.
Payne had 12 points to pace Brunswick, with Alex Bandouveres adding 10 points, Pearson Cost and Alan Molnar seven each, and Josh Dorr six.
Tyus Ripley picked up 12 points for Oxford Hills, while Andrew Fleming and Jake Yates finished with 10 each.

A 22-6 scoring advantage in the second quarter allowed the visiting Eagles to pull away from the Cougars at Farmington.
Mt. Ararat is 2-3 and hosts Lewiston on Saturday at 4 p.m., while Mt. Blue fell to 1- 4.
Mason Griffin had a game-high 22 points for Mt. Ararat, with Shy Ulrickson (“he played a great game,” Mt. Ararat coach Steve Cox) chipping in 15, Cam Cox nine and Mike Crawford seven.
Zack Mittlestadt was the lone Cougar in double digits with 12 points.

The visiting Bobcats improved to 4-0 with a Western D win over Pine Tree Academy at Freeport.
Richmond used a 17-5 scoring advantage in the first quarter to take early control, and a 26-13 edge in the third turned a nine-point halftime lead (22-13) into a 48-26 edge heading to the fourth.
Tyler Soucy scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the third quarter to lead Richmond, which visits Valley tonight at 7 p.m. Soucy nailed four 3-pointers, while teammate Bailey Johansen had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Cam Emmons added 10 points to Richmond’s total.
Chris Wilday had 17 points for the 1-4 Breakers, with Justin Pelletier added 11, including three treys.
Richmond finished 5-for-8 at the line, with Pine Tree Academy perfect after a 5- for-5 performance at the stripe.

The visiting Wildcats used a 29-9 third quarter scoring advantage to take control in a Western Maine Conference tilt at Freeport.
The Falcons fell to 0-5 and return to action on Monday at Wells. York improved to 2- 3.
Trevor Labonte had 21 points for the Wildcats, who held quarter leads of 17-11, 34-22 and 63-31. Mark Mac- Glashing added 12 points and Justin Frecker nine.
Jack Davenport led the way for Freeport with 18 points. Brendan Qualls added eight.

The Phoenix hit the road for the first time this year and cruised to a Western D win over the Bears at Portland.
Hyde (4-0) led 9-4, 19-7 and 39-15 at the quarter breaks. The Phoenix have a long break, returning to the court on Jan. 6 at Seacoast Christian.
Arthur R. Gould fell to 1-3.
Antoine Montgomery led Hyde with 11 points, followed by Greg Kidger’s nine.
Keegan Gaoutte had a game-high 19 points for the Bears.
