PARSONSFIELD — A woman brandishing a handgun held up a Chinese restaurant in town Saturday night.

York County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bill King said police are continuing to investigate the 6:20 p.m. holdup.

Restaurant staff told investigators that the woman wore a black coat, black mask, sunglasses and gloves. A more detailed description of the woman was not available.

King said the woman entered the restaurant, China Garden, located at 24 Federal St., in the Kezar Falls section of Parsonsfield, displayed the handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

“After receiving an undisclosed sum of money, she fled out the same door she entered,” King said.

The woman then reportedly ran toward Elm Street.

There were no witnesses to the robbery other than the restaurant staff, whom King characterized as “very emotional” about what had transpired.

Deputies on Sunday had planned to check surrounding businesses to determine whether video surveillance evidence may be available. The investigation is ongoing.
