PORTLAND (AP) — Local musicians are preparing to put on a show in Maine to help raise money for striking FairPoint workers.
The concert on Monday evening at the Empire in Portland is being headlined by eight-piece band Model Airplane.
Other performers include Adam Waxman, Joe Farrell and Kenya Hall.
About 1,700 FairPoint workers represented by two unions in Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire have been on strike since Oct. 17.
Union officials say they have received nearly $150,000 in donations to help support the workers who are no longer earning their paychecks. People have also sent food, medicine, grocery store gift cards and other gifts.
Monday’s concert begins at 9 p.m. and tickets are $10.
