SACO — Two organizations in Maine will receive a total of $104,692 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for rural health care and distance learning through the Rural Development grant program.
Home-Health Visiting Nurses of Southern Maine has been selected to receive a grant in the amount of $51,920 to provide health care for rural residents in 36 towns in the Cumberland County area. Funds will assist seniors with chronic diseases and medically fragile children.
LearningWorks, Inc. has been selected to receive a grant in the amount of $52,772 to teach more than 950 students in three rural high schools and train more than 100 AmeriCorps volunteers.
