
It was a successful week for Morse High School swimming, beginning on the road with a win for both the girls and boys teams, finishing with scores of 122-42 and 117-48 respectively on Tuesday against Waterville.
Brittany Kaler finished first in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle, while Ann Tolan took away the victory in the 200- yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Shipbuilder girls swept all of the relays, including placing first in the 200- yard medley. The team included Kaler, Leah Totman, Tolan and Burch. Kaler and Burch were joined by teammates Morissette and Plummer on the winning 200- yard freestyle relay. Totman, Morissette, Plummer and Tolan led Morse to a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
In boys swimming action, Tucker Banger (200 yard freestyle), Camden Fitzgerald (200-yard IM & 100-yard breaststroke), Drew Ceglinski (50- and 100-yard freestyle), Wesley McKenna (500-yard freestyle) and Ben Willertz (100-yard backstroke) all earned first place wins in individual events.
Patrick McKenna, Nicholas Gonzalez, Wesley McKenna and Banger led the Shipbuilder boys to a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, while Fitzgerald, Gonzalez, Max Gurney and Ceglinski collected a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The 400-yard freestyle relay was won by Morse’s Willertz, Wesley McKenna, Fitzgerald and Nicholas Hennin.
Friday saw more success for both the girls and boys swim team at the Bath Area Family YMCA where Morse swimmers earned wins over Wiscasset High School (girls — 72-11, B — 76-6), Lincoln Academy (girls — 63-22, boys — 70-16), and the Boothbay Regional High School (girls — 74-6, boys — 66-19).
The girls team placed first in all events Friday night. Morissette brought in a firstplace finish in the 200-yard freestyle, while Kaler was in the winner’s circle in both the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke. Tolan (50 yard freestyle & 100 yard butterfly), Plummer (100 yard freestyle) and Totman (100 yard breaststroke) earned first in the individual events.
The 200-yard medley relay included Kaler, Plummer, Tolan and Burch. Tolan and Burch were also on the winning 200- yard freestyle relay team, supported by Morissette and Stevenson. Zenaide McCarthy helped Morissette, Kaler, and Plummer to a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Friday night also proved to be successful for the boys, with Morse sweeping all of the individual events. Ceglinski earned first place in the 200-yard freestyle relay, while Wesley McKenna was first in both the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard butterfly. Max Gurney was first in the 50-yard freestyle, while Banger earned first in the 100-yard freestyle. Fitzgerald was first in the 100-yard backstroke, and Ceglinski led the pack in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Wesley McKenna, Gurney, Fitzgerald, and Banger worked together for first place in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Gurney and Fitzgerald were joined by Ceglinski contributing to a first place win in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Morse High swim team will compete at the Bath Area Family YMCA in an alumni meet on Friday, as well as participating in the Morse Invitational Meet on
