PORTLAND — The Thornton Academy girls basketball team traveled to McAuley on Tuesday looking to complete a season sweep.

Unfortunately for the Golden Trojans, McAuley opened the game on a 13-5 run and held on from there for a 29-25 win over TA.

Thornton would outscore McAuley 11-4 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback.

Katie McCrum led the Trojans with nine points and Victoria Lux and Alex Hart each added six in the loss.

McAuley was led by Jessica Willerson, who finished with a game-high 14 points.

Old Orchard Beach 40, Richmond 16

The Old Orchard Beach girls basketball team improved to 5-0 on the season with a lopsided win over the Bobcats.

Vanessa Hebert led the Seagulls with 12 points and Abby Dubois added 11 points.

Boys Basketball

Bonny Eagle 58, Biddeford 22

The Tigers were held scoreless in the opening quarter and could never climb out of the early deficit.

Patrick Pearl led Biddeford with 10 points, while Jason Vadnais added six points and Caleb Ball chipped in with four in the loss.

Bonny Eagle connected on eight 3-pointers in the contest.

Biddeford will host undefeated Portland on Friday.

Old Orchard Beach 68, AR Gould 24

Zach Hirst scored 15 points to lead the Seagulls to the win.

OOB (3-3) also got eight points and seven rebounds from Joe Anderson, while Thomas Fregeau and Evan Christensen each had eight points and Sam Custeau chipped in with seven rebounds. Point guard Erik Hogan dished out four assists in the win.

Sanford 47, Marshwood 44

Brad Bouchard scored 14 points as the Spartans picked up a home victory.

Connor Yuill and Nick Love also had eight points each for Sanford.

Boys Hockey

Biddeford 1, Scarborough 1

The Biddeford and Scarborough boys hockey teams skated to a 1-1 tie at the Biddeford Ice Arena Tuesday night.

Sean McGovern scored the lone Scarborough goal at 6:39 in the second period, but Biddeford’s Colin Lavigne would tie the game on a shorthanded goal in the third period.

Both teams goalies would preserve the tie with excellent play in the overtime.
