A “yes” vote to approve the new Sanford High School and Technical Center on Jan. 13 is imperative as we look to provide a bright future for our children and our community.
We are teaching our young sons about the power of choices and their consequences. Even at their ages, they can understand the value of good decisions.
If Sanford citizens choose to let this opportunity pass us by, we will be at a loss to explain to our sons why we failed to make a common-sense decision to give them a first-rate high school.
Loss of accreditation. An unsafe building that cannot be locked-down. The continued practice of leasing expensive trailers and calling them classrooms. These are all consequences of not making the right choice in this matter.
Sanford has the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a $100 million, state-of-the-art school with a local investment of just $8 million. Never before has such an offer been extended by the state to any other community. It will restore pride to our city and give our kids extraordinary education and job training opportunities.
Approving funds to build a state-of-the-art school for our children is the right choice for Sanford. Our family is voting “yes” on Jan. 13. We hope yours will do the same.
It’s our turn.
Brett and Hannah Williams, Sanford
