KENNEBUNK — Police this morning were still looking for a 40 year-old local man who ran away early Sunday after allegedly threatening people with a knife.
Police Chief Robert MacKenzie said more than one victim was involved in the incident.
William C. Day, who lives on Fletcher Street, ran away after the incident and is wanted on a charge of domestic violence criminal threatening, MacKenzie said.
“We’re still looking for him,” the police chief added.
Police conducted a extensive search on Sunday and have put out the word to surrounding law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for him.
“He may have had contacts and been able to get out of the area,” Mac-Kenzie said, adding that Day knows the region and might be holed up somewhere locally.
According to police, Day left his home on foot following the alleged threat and was last seen on Main Street around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
“He has some past history that is similar in nature,” Mac-Kenzie said.
The Kenne-bunk Police Depart-ment does not believe the general public is in danger. William is described as a white male, 6 foot, one inch tall, 155 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information as to his whereabouts should contact Kennebunk Police at 985-6121. Anyone spotting him should call 911 immediately, MacKenzie said.
