PORTLAND (AP) — A former Army marksman charged with shooting two people, including his wife, during a home invasion in Maine has been held without bail.

Gregory Owens, of Londonderry, New Hampshire, was held at his initial appearance Monday in U.S. District Court in Portland, giving him time to hire a lawyer prior to a Jan. 21 bail hearing.

The 58-year-old Owens is charged with interstate domestic violence and discharging a gun during a home invasion.

According to prosecutors, Owens was having an affair with a woman in Wisconsin, who threatened to tell his wife.

Prosecutors say Owens broke into the Saco home last month and shot his wife, Rachel, three times. He also shot homeowner Steven Chabot. Chabot’s wife was also home but was unhurt. Rachel Owens was a guest in the home.
