SPRINGVALE — Rene J. LeBlanc, 98, of Springvale, died at the Lodges in Springvale on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015.
Rene was born on June 6, 1916 to Alfred and Laura (Boivin) LeBlanc in Sanford, where he grew up and attended local schools.
He proudly served in the Pacific during World War II, in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Lexington.
In 1946, he married Adrienne Tetreau, and together they shared nearly 69 years of marriage and raised two children.
Rene was a very hard-working man who took pride in providing for his family, working for many years as a union carpenter.
Rene enjoyed going fishing, bowling and playing cards. He was a devout Catholic and had been a longtime communicant of Holy Family/St. Thérése of Lisieux Parish. In fact, he was one of the workers who helped build the church. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Rene was preceded in death by: his son, Michael LeBlanc; by his sisters, Theresa Richards, Gabrielle Legere, and Irene Fortier; and by his brothers, Leo and Ferdinand.
He is survived by: his wife, Adrienne (Tetreau) LeBlanc of Springvale; his daughter, Aurelie Pfohl and her husband Skip of Syracuse, New York; his daughter-in-law, Helen (Baron) LeBlanc of Sanford; six grandchildren, Bailey and Shane Pfohl of Syracuse, New York, Nicole Turner and her husband Peter of Noblesville, Indiana, Danielle Self of Allen, Texas, Jason LeBlanc of Arlington, Virginia and Kristen Loflin and her husband Nick of Greensboro, North Carolina; five great-grandchildren, Josie and Trent Turner, Tatum Self and John and Abby Loflin; two brothers, Raymond LeBlanc and his wife Gloria of Greenwich, Connecticut and Roger LeBlanc and his wife Carol of Cadillac, Michigan.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 16 at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home located at 29 Winter Street in Sanford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17 at St. Thérése of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church, located on North Avenue in Sanford. Interment will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
