PGA: Ryan Palmer missed a chance to shoot 59 or lower in the Humana Challenge at La Quinta, California, settling for an 11-under 61. But Palmer was still three strokes behind leader Matt Kuchar despite a 12-under 132.

 Dustin Johnson plans to return from his leave of absence in two weeks at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.

It will be his first competition since he announced in August that he was taking time off to seek professional help for undisclosed “personal challenges.”

EUROPEAN TOUR: Branden Grace and Bernd Wiesberger birdied their last holes to keep a share of the lead after round three at the Qatar Masters.

Scotland’s Marc Warren and Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo would have stood alone atop the leaderboard with 13-under-203 totals if Grace and Wiesberger hadn’t rallied.
