ARUNDEL — Carolyn J. Sawyer, 81, of Arundel died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

She was born June 22, 1933 in Eaton, New Hampshire, a daughter of Leslie H. and Melba (Dewitt) Beane and was educated there, graduating from Kennett High School in North Conway.

On July 17, 1953 she married Leroy Sawyer in Conway, New Hampshire.

She had been employed at Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland, and Shape in Biddeford.

She was a member of Kingdom Hall in Kennebunk. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, camping and going to fairs, but most of all being with her family and all the family gatherings.

She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years in 1997 and by a sister, Irene Higgins.

She was survived by: four daughters, Geraldine Lussier and her husband James of Portland, Doreen Haug and her husband Paul of Wisconsin, Sandra Cotsis and her significant other Donald Gagnon of Biddeford, and Jennifer Ferrante and her husband Daniel of Standish; four sons, Timothy Sawyer and his wife Donna of Lyman, Michael Sawyer and his wife Joyce of Sanford, Jeffrey Sawyer and his wife Krista of Dayton, and Leroy Sawyer II and his wife Cathy of Arundel; one sister, Audrey Downing of Port Charlotte, Florida; 24 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. on Friday Jan. 30 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. A funeral service will be Saturday Jan. 31 at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco. To express condolences on line visit www.HopeMemorial.com.
