AUGUSTA (AP) — A special election will take place in March to fill a House seat left vacant after a Democrat resigned.
Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap said Friday that the special election for the District 93 seat will take place on March 10.
Elizabeth Dickerson of Rockland announced her plans to resign earlier this month because she decided to move to another state. She said that professional and personal opportunities had developed since she was reelected in November.
Dunlap’s office said the political parties in the district will hold caucuses to nominate candidates ahead of the election. Nominations are due on Feb.9 and writein candidates have to be filed by Feb. 17.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
