AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine’s budget-writing committee is supporting Gov. Paul LePage’s pick for finance chief.

The Appropriations Committee unanimously endorsed Richard Rosen’s nomination to become commissioner of the Department of Financial Services on Thursday.

Rosen has served as acting commissioner of the department since former finance chief Sawin Millett retired in May.

In recent weeks, Rosen has been walking lawmakers through the Republican governor’s proposed $6.3 billion budget that includes a massive tax overhaul proposal.

Prior to that, Rosen was deputy commissioner of finance for the department and the director of the Governor’s Office of Policy and Management.
