BIDDEFORD — A Lyman man is in custody after making off with the entire cash register from 7-Eleven, at 66 Alfred St., early Wednesday morning, according to police.
Biddeford police were called to the convenience store at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday and were told that a male suspect stole the cash register and took off running toward Washington Street.
He apparently didn’t make it very far, though, as police said they found the cash register a couple of blocks away, in an alley next to the building at 124 Alfred St. A search of the building turned up 25-year-old Brandon Pelletier, of Lyman, who was hiding in the third-floor stairwell, according to police.
Pellet-ier’s clothing matched the description the store clerk gave police.
“He didn’t brandish a weapon,” Deputy Chief JoAnne Fisk said Wednesday.
Pelletier, who police said has a lengthy criminal record, was taken to the York County Jail in Alfred. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in court Friday.
