SACO — A dog reportedly bit a man who allegedly tried to rob Holly’s gas station.

Around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, a man allegedly attempted to rob an employee at gunpoint at Holly’s gas station, located at 952 Portland Road in Saco, according to a press release from Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland. The employee refused to hand over any money, according to Holland.

Holland said the employee was holding onto his dog and the dog lunged at the man, biting him on each side of his face.

The man ran from the business toward Flag Pond Road to a truck parked on the side of the road, said Holland. The truck, described as a newer model, light blue Chevrolet Silverado extended cab, was last seen headed north on the Flag Pond Road, said Holland.

The suspect is described as a white male, about five foot ten inches tall and 180 pounds, said Holland. He was said to be wearing a navy blue hooded sweatshirt with the word “GAP” on the front, black pants, gray and black gloves, a black winter style hat and a dark green mask with an orange liner covering the bottom of his face.

Holland is seeking help from members of the public who might have passed through the area at the time of the robbery and recall seeing a truck parked on the Flag Pond Road near Holly’s gas or fleeing the area.
