Leo Menard Jr. was recently awarded the William Kaney Leadership Award for 2015 by the Biddeford+Saco Chamber of Commerce & Industry. The award is for a person who demonstrates exceptional leadership in community service. For years, Menard has organized the Northern York County Toys for Tots campaign, has been a big brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, has served on the Biddeford-based Community Bicycle Center Board of Directors and has volunteered for special events at Sunday River. The long list over the years of his involvement include the Boy Scouts, Little League, Biddeford Athletic Association, La Kermesse, Rotary Club of Saco Bay, and Our Father’s House, along with many other positions and projects such as organizing the expansion and renovation of the Saco Food Pantry. “ Well deserved award,” said Doug Hooper, Menard’s sales manager at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Northeast Real Estate.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
You can read more here about our commenting policy and terms of use. More information is also found on our FAQs.
