BRUNSWICK — Russell A. Michaud, age 85, of Weymouth Street, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2015, at the Mid Coast Senior Health Center. He was born in Brunswick on May 15, 1929, the son of Adolphe and Rose Alma Belanger Michaud.

He attended St. John’s School and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1948. On July 13, 1950, he married Yvette C. Coulombe. She died on July 23, 2002. On Jan. 31, 2004, he married Theresa Masse Favreau.

During the Korean conflict he served in the Army and later served for 11 years in the Maine National Guard.

Russell spent most of his life working for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as postmaster of South Paris, ME in 1985. He also held several supervisory positions in various post offices in Maine, including offices in Brunswick, Portland, Auburn and South Paris.

He was an avid golfer, enjoyed spending time on the computer, and helping other people. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church of Brunswick and St. Catherine’s Church of Norway. He had also served as a member of the parish councils of both parishes. Mr. Michaud was also a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club and Knights of Columbus.

Surviving in addition to his wife Theresa Favreau Michaud of Brunswick, is a daughter Diane Huppe and her husband Alain of Stoughton, MA, stepchildren Christine Deweese of FL, Marc Favreau of CT, James, John, Paul and Andrew Favreau, all of Maine, a sister Theresa Michaud Doiron and her husband Gerald of Harpswell, ME, a daughter in-law Florence Michaud Lebel and her husband David of SC, his loving grandchildren Barbara Wong and her husband Jonathan, Kimberly Raplenovich and her husband Matthew, Nicholas Michaud and his wife Lesley, Aimee Sanfasin and her husband Steve, Rebecca Couture and her husband Ryan, Julie Ann Frye and her husband Jason and several stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren.

He was also predeceased by a son Daniel R. Michaud.

Visiting hours will be held Friday, Feb. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St., Brunswick. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church-All Saints Parish, Pleasant Street, Brunswick, with a reception to follow at Stetson’s Funeral Home Reception Center.
