LEBANON — A 54-year-old Lebanon man has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for having a gun in his possession.
Lawrence Young was prohibited from having a firearm because of prior felony convictions.
According to court records, Young was found hunting turkeys with a 16-gauge shotgun in the Acton area on May 1, 2014. He was prohibited from possessing firearms because of prior felony convictions for the same charge ”“ illegally possessing a firearm ”“ in 2013 as well as violating conditions of release in 2011.
Young pleaded guilty to the charge in September. He was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Portland by Judge D. Brock Hornby, according to a news release issued by the office of U.S. Attorney Thomas Delahanty.
The investigation was conducted by Maine State Police, the Maine Warden Service, and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
