BIDDEFORD — Joanne Thibeau, 69, of Biddeford, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 at Evergreen Manor in Saco.

She was born Aug. 21, 1945 in Biddeford, a daughter of Eliodore and Cecilia (Mayotte) Ledoux, and was educated locally. She graduated from Biddeford High School in 1963.

On June 29, 1976, she married James Thibeau in Biddeford

Joanne was the co-owner of Bill’s Place in Biddeford for many years. She also worked at American Bank Stationary for several years and was last employed for 16 years as a CNA at St. Andre’s Healthcare Facility, retiring in 1997 due to ill health.

She taught CCD at St. Mary’s School and volunteered her time as a den mother for Cub Scouts and Weblos. She was a devoted Red Sox fan and also enjoyed watching her grandsons play baseball and soccer. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, working on her computer and was an avid reader.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, James Thibeau in 2013; and her brother, Donald Ledoux in 1987.

She is survived by: a son, William L. Gooch III of Saco; a stepson, Dennis Thibeau of Gorham; two stepdaughters, Wendy Thibeau of Biddeford, and Kimberly Barnette of Biddeford; three sisters, Aline Boissonneault of Palm Bay, Florida, Diane Gallagher of Washburn, and Dora Allaire of Waterboro; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews

There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford.
