OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Scott Victor Hartley, 50 of Smithwheel Road, passed away Feb. 22, 2015 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

He was born April 22, 1964 in Bangor, the son of Janette Layway and the stepson of Norman Prescott.

Scott graduated from Nokomis Regional high School in Newport in 1982. 

He attended the University of Maine in Orono and State of Maine Police Academy in Waterville.

He served in the U.S. Army in the military police for four years.

Scott was employed with the U.S. Department of Corrections, then the Saco Police Department, the Old Orchard Beach Police Department and most recently with the York County Jail and York County Sheriff’s Departments.

Scott was a member of Orchard Masonic Lodge 215, and he also attended St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church (Good Shepherd Parish) in Old Orchard Beach.

He is survived by: his parents of Brooks; a son, Chase Hartley, and a daughter, Josette Hartley, both of Old Orchard Beach; sisters, Lisa Simonds of Corinna, and Melissa Clark and her husband Robert of Plymouth; nephews, James and Matthew; nieces, Christine and Heidi; and special friends Eugene and Tari-Lea O’Neill and their daughter Katie of Old Orchard Beach.

A Masonic memorial service will be conducted by Orchard Lodge 215, Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at the Saco Masonic Lodge, 252 Main St., 3rd floor, Saco. 

Services will conclude with military honors.

Spring burial will be at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Springvale.
