Search begins for Miss Teen and Mrs. Maine
Applications are now being accepted for the titles of Miss Teen Maine and Mrs. Maine International 2015. The Miss Teen and Mrs. International Pageants will be held at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts in Jacksonville, Florida. The dates for the Miss Teen International Pageant are July 27 through Aug. 2 and the dates for the Mrs. International Pageant are July 20-26.
The women selected as Miss Teen Maine and Mrs. Maine International 2015 will serve as ambassadors for Maine and will receive an official crown and sash.
There is no talent or swimsuit competition, and previous pageant experience is not required. Miss Teen contestants compete in interview, fitness wear, evening gown, and “fun fashion” to show off their own style in an age-appropriate outfit of their choice. Mrs contestants compete in interview, fitness wear, and evening gown with their husbands escorting them on stage.
The winner of the Mrs International Pageant will win cash and prizes. Winner of the Miss Teen International Pageant will receive a 3 year modeling contract along with cash and prizes.
“Mrs.” applicants must be married and between the ages of 21 and 56.
“Miss Teen” applicants must be unmarried and between the ages of 13 and 18.

Salvation Army gets boost from Oakhurst
PORTLAND — Oakhurst Diary is donating more than $21,000 to The Salvation Army of Northern
New England.
This is the company’s largest donation in the 15 years since beginning its annual Egg Nog fundraising effort. Oakhurst has donated a portion of its annual Egg Nog sales ”“ five cents for every container sold during the holiday season ”“ to The Salvation Army since 1999. The company reports that this year’s milestone means that Oakhurst has provided more than $260,000 in total support from this fundraising tradition. Bill Bennett of Oakhurst presented a check for this year’s donation to The Salvation Army on Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. at the organization’s Portland headquarters located at 299 Cumberland Ave.
The funds raised for The Salvation Army of Northern New England will be divided between its 22 Corps Community Centers across Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. The Salvation Army Massachusetts Division will also receive a portion of funds raised. The support will be used to supply meals, after-school tutoring, recreational activities and shelter for those in need.
Each holiday season, Oakhurst makes several Egg Nog flavors including is traditional and Light Egg Nog and its newest flavors Chocolate Nog and Buttered Rum Egg Nog. All of the company’s Egg Nog is made with milk from Maine dairy farms.
