BRUNSWICK — Pickleball, a cross between tennis, badminton and ping pong, just may be America’s fastest growing sport. It’s fun and easy to learn. Even if you’ve never played a racquet sport, you can pick it up quickly and be playing in no time.
Introductory pickleball sessions are being held at the Brunswick Recreation Department at 220 Neptune Drive at Brunswick Landing ( the former U. S. Navy base) in March.
Nancy Heiser, former tennis coach and experienced pickleball player, will show participants the basics of play on Wednesdays from 1 p.m. 2:30 p.m. The first session is Wednesday, with additional clinics run on March 19 and 25.
The first drop-in is free. After that the cost to play is $2 per session for residents, $3 for non residents. Players must sign-up ahead for the class, as there is a limit of eight players per session on two courts.
Beginners with little knowledge of the game are encouraged to come on Wednesdays at 11: 30 a. m. to meet with similar new players and play games.
Call the Brunswick Rec. at 725-6656 to sign-up.
