
The sixth-ranked Polar Bears will look for their second win of the 2015 season today in a NESCAC matchup against Wesleyan in Claremont at 1 p.m.
Bowdoin swept doubles play to open the day, with the No. 1 pairing of Joulia Likhanskaia and Tess Trinka, and the No. 3 duo of Pilar Giffenig and Tiffany Cheng, taking 8-2 wins. At No. 2 doubles, Emma Chow and Kyra Silitch captured an 8-5 victory.
The Polar Bears tacked on straight-set wins at No. 1, 3, 5 and 6 singles to cap the match. Likhansaia earned the win in the top spot with a 6-0, 6-3 showing, followed by Trinka at No. 3 (6-4,6-3), Samantha Stalder at No. 5 (6- 2, 6-3), and Silitch at No. 6 (6- 0, 6-3).
‘Sweet 16’ times announced
The Bowdoin College women’s basketball team will face host Montclair State on Friday in the second NCAA Division III “Sweet 16” game of the evening at 7 p.m.
Amherst faces Salisbury in Friday’s opener at 5 p.m.
The winners will return to the court for the “Elite 8” on Saturday, with tip-off slated for 6 p.m.
The survivor of the fourteam Regional will advance to the NCAA D-III Final Four at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich., March 20-21.
